“Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em.” - Shakespeare

I’m Yuefeng Shi, a current Ph.D. student in the Learning, Design, and Technology program at the University of Georgia. My research interest is seeking the most practical and effective ways to elevate classroom engagement within online learning environments.

Starting my teaching career at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have been working exclusively as an online teacher for three years now. While experiencing the benefit of modern technology that made it possible to do remote learning, I yearned for the potential of online learning that would bring a unique, multifaceted, and immersive learning experience that traditional classroom teaching cannot do. I hope my research can contribute to the model and frameworks available to help instructional designers, teachers, and course evaluators make online classrooms more welcoming, engaging, and exciting for learners.

When I am not busy researching, I am a hiker, drummer, sim-racing driver, photographer, home chef, and certified TEFL teacher.
